The rock we sell is the remains of a quarrying operation established over 150 years ago where virtually every ounce of energy to remove the product from the ground was performed by man, mule or horse.

Most of our natural slate products have one of two nomenclatures i.e.: Colonial or Modern within their description.  For product reference, “Colonial” refers to a piece of rock that has one flat face or naturally cleft edge.  “Modern” refers to a stone that has more than one naturally cleft edge, upwards of six perpendicular and/or parallel faces.  Occasionally, there may be a machine-sawn edge on a “Modern” block.

All products are shipped upon a suitable wooden pallet, wire or clear plastic wrapped, and banded to pallet for containment and security in transit.  Our standard pallets are 48” by 40” and are designed to fit in an enclosed tractor trailer body. Each product is labeled before shipment with the product name, weight, approximate volume, and an identification number used internally for tracking and quality control.
